Your inadvertent slowmo video is superb! Also, I’m still really appreciating your thoughtful approach both to travelling and documenting the people you meet
Absolutely marvellous! The photo thing has no easy answers does it. It seems either intrusive or cliched to take photos of people and I’m never comfortable with it. Even though people often make the best photos! So enjoying this blog.
Yes I use a mixture of asking permission, indicating with hand signals from mid-distance, and candid from a distance, and just try to judge each situation. I feel people are more aware now of their right to say no, and I think that's good.
Always interesing to read about matriarchal societies. Cheers from northern Namibia! Popping into the Hoanib riverbed now to see the desert-adapted ellies (and if we’re lucky, the lions!) for the last time for awhile before crossing into Angola.

Same, she sounds super conscientious
Thanks Philippa, and the same to you.

Yes it’s something I wrestle with a lot, in search of a balance I’m comfortable with.
Thanks for reading!
Another brilliant read and interesting adventure
Great photos, and the people shots definitely make it better.
It’s always difficult to know if people mind having a photo taken unless you ask
That’s where an unobtrusive long lense from afar comes in handy - not that it solves the ethical dilemma.
xx
ta!

Seems reasonable xx

It was fascinating. I would have loved to have sat down and chatted to some of the women but it was absolute chaos!
Enjoy your final days in the south.
